It was a sad day in downtown Saint Joseph, Missouri this morning. As always on Monday’s I drive downtown with my computer to do some work at my favorite coffee shop Paradox Coffee & Theatre. That’s when the smoke started billowing on the block next door. I grabbed my camera from my car and forgot about my morning cup of coffee for the moment. The historic Pioneer Building which was 144 years old this year was coughing up smoke. The St. Joseph Fire Department did their best to contain the fire, but the historic Tootle Opera House burned, leaving a hole in downtown and our hearts. (Photos by Patrick P.
